The Tsnori Multifunctional Complex

The Tsnori Multifunctional Complex is a competition-winning proposal that balances high-capacity athletic facilities with the intimate urban character of the Sighnaghi municipality. Rather than a single massive structure, the design is strategically fragmented into four independent blocks. This approach adaptively scales the architecture to harmonize with the local low-rise fabric by reducing the building’s perceived mass while maintaining distinct functional zones.

The complex is organized into specialized blocks: an Aquatic Block featuring a 30 x 25m international standard swimming pool with dedicated spectator seating ; two Sports Blocks with multipurpose halls for disciplines including volleyball, table tennis, judo, and boxing ; and a Cultural-Educational Block housing a library, mediatheque, and art spaces alongside administrative offices.

Architecturally, the project utilizes a metal frame system to achieve large, column-free spans. The facades are characterized by terracotta ceramic shingles that offer a modern reinterpretation of the region’s traditional tile roofs. These solid, rhythmic volumes are elevated upon a continuous glass belt. This "floating" effect is supported by diagonal V-columns, while Low-E glazing and integrated skylights maximize natural light and energy efficiency.
